"Star Trek"

The action of the series takes place in the 60s of the XXIII century, when space flights between planetary systems are a routine. Earth is a leading member of the United Federation of Planets - a huge, democratic state with over a hundred different planets. The other three founding races of the Federation are the Vulcans, Andorians, and Tellarites. The Federation's most important political and military opponents are the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Empire.

The main setting of the series is the USS Enterprise spacecraft, belonging to the Starfleet - a structure that is primarily the armed forces of the Federation, but also carries out numerous scientific and diplomatic tasks.

Main characters:

Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) - Commander of the Enterprise, sometimes impetuous and impulsive, prone to insubordination towards his superiors, but above all devoted completely to his ship and its crew. Kirk loves beautiful women and is a consummate seducer, but knows his captaincy responsibilities are incompatible with a serious relationship.
Commander Spock (Leonard Nimoy) - the ship's first officer and head of its scientific and research services. He comes from the planet Vulcan and looks like a typical Vulcan, though ethnically half-terrestrial because of his Earthling mother. True to Vulcan ideals, Spock tries to follow nothing but cold logic. Due to the terrestrial part of his genes, however, he is not completely devoid of emotions and has a constant internal struggle to hide them and not let them influence his own behavior.
Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (DeForest Kelly) - the ship's chief doctor, speaking with a distinct southern US accent. In discussions of the three main characters, he is usually an exponent of ordinary human emotions or reflexes. He speaks straight and does not look back at the often complicated intrigues or great ideals of the captain, but on the other hand at the cold arguments of Spock, which McCoy cannot bear, which often causes conflicts between these officers.

The four regular supporting heroes are:
Lieutenant Commander Montgomery "Scotty" Scott (James Doohan) - the ship's chief engineer, absolutely in love with the Enterprise as a work of technical genius. He speaks with a strong Scottish accent and has many of the features of a stereotypical Scot, such as a fondness for white weapons or strong alcoholic beverages.
Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu (George Takei) - the ship's main helmsman from Japan. He is a rather warm and gentle person, but it also happens that a real samurai comes out of him.
Lt. Nyota Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) - a communications specialist from Africa (her mother tongue is Swahili). Uhura was one of the first characters of black women in the history of American television to play equal roles with white women and were treated by them as absolute partners.
Ensign Pavel Chekov (Walter Koenig) - a character added from the beginning of the second season with a younger audience in mind. He is shown as a young handsome man who, on the one hand, can be involuntarily very funny, but on the other hand, he also has courage and willingness to play amours.
